Privacy Policy
Your privacy matters.
POSTREAD is built on anonymity. Below is a plain-English explanation of exactly what data we touch, why, and what we never do. No jargon, no loopholes.
Last updated: May 2025
01 — What We Collect
When you post a message on POSTREAD, we store only the text of your message, the country your IP address resolves to (for the flag display), and the timestamp of submission. That is the complete list. We do not create a profile for you. We do not link your message to any identity.
02 — What We Never Collect
We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal identifier. We do not permanently store your IP address — it is used only in the moment to resolve your country flag and apply rate-limiting, then discarded. We do not use fingerprinting, cross-site tracking, or advertising identifiers.
03 — How Messages Are Used
Your message is shown anonymously to the very next person who posts on POSTREAD. It is not indexed by search engines, shared to social media, or sold. Messages are automatically eligible for deletion after 30 days; messages flagged by our moderation system may be removed sooner. Administrators can remove any message that violates our community guidelines, but cannot identify who wrote it.
05 — Your Rights
You have the right not to post — browsing POSTREAD without posting leaves no record of your visit. You have the right to close this tab and leave no trace beyond what your browser or ISP may record locally. Because we store no identifying information alongside messages, we cannot fulfil requests to delete "your" specific messages; we have no way to verify which message belongs to which person. If you have concerns, please visit our Feedback page.
06 — Contact
Questions about privacy? We are happy to talk. To share your suggestions or feedback, please visit our Feedback page. We typically respond within 48 hours.
By using POSTREAD you acknowledge this privacy policy. We may update it occasionally — when we do, the "Last updated" date above will change. Continued use of the site after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
